Get ready for the 11th Showcase of the CEE Animation Forum 2023 – An exclusive window into Europe’s finest animated concoctions. Ranging from feature films to student projects, our selection of 28 projects aims to enchant audiences of all ages. Book your dates for November 8-9 in Pilsen, Czech Republic as we gear up to introduce our new game-changing tool, the Market!

Expect a medley of animation styles and genres, as we present 28 of the prime pitching projects selected for CEE Animation Forum 2023. Spanning across feature films, series/TV specials, short, and student films, these projects cumulatively boast a formidable budget of €29 million. Our selection is a vibrant palette targeting children, teens, young adults, and adults alike. Hungarian animation seems to be a frontrunner with five projects, closely followed by the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Greece, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

The featured projects offer a mesmerizing fusion of animation techniques, showcasing the breadth of artistic competence in the animation field. Drawing remains a strong contender with usage in 16 projects, while 2D and 3D animation shine through 14 and 7 projects respectively. The timelessness of stop motion animation doesn’t go unnoticed, capturing audience fascination in 7 projects.

The participating teams have their skills honed under the tutelage of industry bigwigs like Pitch & Public Speaking Coach, Bonnie Williams, and Art Management and Film Production expert, Karolina Davidova.

Introducing the Adjudicators

The esteemed jury members assessing the feature films category include Claudia Rudolph-Hartmann from Global Screen, Delphine Maury, founder of Tant Mieux Prod, and Doghouse Films’ co-founder, David Mouraire.

The series and TV Special introduce judges Denisa Dufková of Czech Television Déčko, film distributor Emmanuelle hevalier, and stop-motion producer Leticia Montalvá Sánchez of Pangur Animation.

The short films jury consists of Tam Dan Vu from Travelling Distribution, producer Stéphanie Launay, and film distributor Carla Vulpiani.

Adjudicating the student works will be Cannes-winning filmmaker Flóra Anna Buda, co-founder of Studio Seufz Stefan Michel, and Parisian film journalist, festival curator, and writer Léo Soesanto.

Unveiling the ‘Market’

The CEE Animation Forum 2023 debuts ‘Market’, an initiative designed to bridge film professionals. It aims to provide a platform for showcasing services, locating job opportunities, and enlisting ideal project partners. Its unique feature is its accessibility, allowing interaction even for those unable to attend in person.

All attendees can also anticipate insightful presentations by Crystel Poncet, former senior acquisitions manager at Canal+, and from the reputed Hungarian institute, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest, launching their new Animation MA programme in English.

The much-awaited event will be hosted in Pilsen, Czech Republic, on November 8 and 9. The event is backed by the Czech Film Fund, Ministry of Culture Czech Republic, Audiovisual Producers´ Association (Czech Republic), Pilsen Region (Czech Republic), and the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest.
