Mog and Channel 4 are Ready to Jingle Your Jollies with a Festive Ident!
– Channel 4 has taken a swing at bringing some festive cheer to our screens this year with a new, holiday-themed ident.
– The sneak preview will carry bits from their upcoming animated version of the famous children’s book, ‘Mog’s Christmas’.
– The creative mastermind behind this animated endeavor comes from none other than Lupus Films in coordination with 4creative, Channel 4’s very own, award-smothered in-house creative agency.
– The main fuzzy-tail of the ident is none other but Mog herself, keenly keeping a watchful eye on… well, mysterious Christmas happenings, we presume.
Mog’s Whooping it Up – Your Christmas TV Headliner!
Here’s my hot take: Channel 4 is showing us how to not just ring in the Christmas spirit, but animate it into our living rooms, all while riding on the back of a charming kitty named Mog. The festive ident is more than just a channel marker; it’s a warm visual blanket ready to wrap us in a good hearty chuckle. Featuring snippets from the much-anticipated classic children’s tale, ‘Mog’s Christmas’, is in itself a party popper! Partnering with Lupus Films and their highly decorated in-house squad 4creative, they’ve figured out a way to climb down our TV antennas dressed as Santa. So get your hot chocolate ready folks, because Channel 4 and Mog are going to make sure your festive season is purr-fectly jolly!
Nothing Says Christmas Like a Cat in Control
It’s impressive to see a beloved book character transition to the small screen, let alone take over an ident. Mog sees you when you’re sleeping, knows when you’re awake, knows if you’ve been bad or good, so tune in for goodness sake! Or…because your Christmas might just need that extra dash of feline fun!
Get Ready for a Meow-gical Christmas!
Channel 4 is announcing a brand new festive ident for the holiday season, inspired by the animated adaptation of Judith Kerr’s beloved children’s book, Mog’s Christmas.
This delightful piece of animation was crafted by Lupus Films along with Channel 4’s award-winning internal creative team, 4creative. The ident reveals Mog, the charming protagonist, playfully stirring up the Christmas celebration in the Thomas family household.
Set to go live on December 2nd and continue airing through the Christmas season, the project took an impressive 16 weeks to complete. This harmonious blend of traditional 2D animation with contemporary, looping 3D space was both a creative adventure and a formidable challenge for the skillful team at Lupus Films.
Earlier in the year, Channel 4 introduced a series of novel idents in an array reflecting modern, diverse Britain. This Christmas ident marks the first production using the new system since their implementation. For last year’s Christmas special, Channel 4 had entrusted Lupus Films to create an ident based on The Snowman™ to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its first broadcast on their network.
In a thrilling announcement earlier this year, Channel 4 released news of a commissioned animated adaptation of classic children’s book Mog’s Christmas to celebrate the centenary of Judith Kerr’s birth. This project is a collaboration with Universal Pictures Content Group, HarperCollins Children’s Books, and Lupus Films.
The talented industry professionals steering this project at 4creative include Executive Creative Director Lynsey Atkin, Creative Director Dan Chase, and Producer Lauren Holden, along with a supportive team in the marketing department. 4creative recently earned the Consistent Creative Excellence award at the Campaign Big Awards for their sustained exceptional work.
At the helm of Lupus Films for this project are producers Ruth Fielding and Camilla Deakin, Director Robin Shaw, and Head of Production Adam Jackson-Nocher.
We envisioned creating idents that could house a wonderful array of styles and ideas moving forward. We’re thrilled to have our favourite cat, Mog, be part of that vision and be the center of our Christmas presentation, thanks to the brilliant efforts of Lupus Films and our very own Dan and Lauren.
– Lynsey Atkin (Executive Creative Director, 4creative)
We’re delighted to watch our award-winning Channel 4 idents evolve and transform into new captivating worlds. This Christmas, we hope you enjoy the delightful animations of Mog and her magical 4.
– Amber Kirby (Marketing Director, 4creative)
We’re honored to have been entrusted with the creation of the special Mog’s Christmas ident for Channel 4’s iconic series. We look forward to seeing Mog grace screens during the festive season and the premiere of the film. Our team is extremely proud of the result of our journey crafting the first program-specific ident in Channel 4’s new format.
