The Hot Take
Well, cackle my kernels and call me a cuckoo, Sixteen South is laying golden eggs and boy, they’re flying off the shelves! Who said only hens could pull that off? This BAFTA-winning and Emmy-nominated producer, along with partner-in-animation crime Mikros, have whipped up a batch of their unique brand of animated ‘sunnyside-up’ and it’s cracking audiences all over the globe. Trust me, Coop Troop isn’t just poultry in motion; it’s the molten hot roast dominating the kids’ television dinner. Kudos to ITVX for spotting the fowl play, feathering its nest with this giggly gem, and making it the main ‘cluck’ of the town. They’ve taken the ‘pecking’ order to a whole new level – proving that, with a little giggle and a CGI squiggle, you’ll be in the coop, I mean, loop in no time!
Award-winning children’s TV producer Sixteen South, in collaboration with fellow producer Mikros, reveals a string of new deals for its fabulously hilarious animated show, Coop Troop, which recently made its UK debut on ITVX.
Besides ITVX, the high-end 52 x 11-minute CGI animation, aimed at the 6-9 age group, has been purchased by ABC Australia, RTE Ireland, SVT Sweden, YLE Finland, and Radio-Canada with more deals in the pipeline.
The series made its initial debut earlier this year on France.TV and Globo Brazil, with Tencent Video Kids in China set to air it next year.
Full of laughter, energy, ridiculous antics, and feathery friends, Coop Troop chronicles the thrilling adventures of five unlikely heroes seeking a break from their dull farm life. Their mission to assist any animal in need keeps them exceptionally busy with the indulged and pampered pets of neighboring town, Animauville.
With its upbeat demeanor, slapstick humor, and absurd escapades, the show is not only significantly entertaining but also imparts lessons on problem-solving through friendship and teamwork to its young audience.
Sixteen South’s Creative Director, Colin Williams expressed:
We’re overjoyed by the global reception of Coop Troop. These amusing tales of our band of furry, feathery, and woolly heroes underscore the universal appeal of classic TV series from the 70s and 80s that also promoted valuables messages like teamwork and friendship to today’s kids. We’re elated that broadcasters worldwide share our enjoyment in creating it.
Sandrine Nguyen, Managing Director / Producer at Mikros Animation IP said:
We’re ecstatic about the enthusiastic response for our “Crazy Zany Gang”. It’s pleasing to see the humor and heart of the show resonate worldwide.
In a first, Sixteen South Originals targets a slightly older audience group with its inaugural CGI animated series, Coop Troop, a collaboration with Mikros Animation IP, France Télévisions in France, and Tencent Video in China.
