Landing on Friday, 13th of September (cue the dramatic music), MBS has tailor-made a thrilling movie experience combining the power of 3D, supernatural, and Friday the 13th. Pro tip: Don’t bring a ladder or a black cat to the theatre. We’ve got enough bad luck with an alien invasion on the line, thank you very much!

GKIDS, the Academy Award winning producer and distributor of high-quality animations, is all set to roll out another gem, ‘DAN DA DAN’, in North American theaters, as announced by Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS) this week. The much talked-about sci-fi and occult series will experience a grand theatrical release on Friday, September 13th and the theatrical premiere titled DAN DA DAN: First Encounter will showcase the initial three episodes. An exclusive interview with the key figures behind the creation of DAN DA DAN – Yukinobu Tatsu (manga author), Shihei Lin (manga editor), Fuga Yamashiro (anime series Director), and voice actors Shion Wakayama and Natsuki Hanae will also be featured.

Prior to the grand official release, the first glimpse of the series will be unveiled on July 6th at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

The series is brought to life by renowned animation studio Science SARU, marking the directorial debut of Fuga Yamashiro. The musical score is orchestrated by Kensuke Ushio, adding to the enchantment of the series, which is an adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga with the same name. The manga is currently a part of the wildly loved ‘Shonen Jump Plus’ by Shueisha, under the incredibly popular Shonen Jump imprint.

Encapsulating essence of genre film, B-movies, and retro sci-fi, DAN DA DAN tells an intriguing story of high school girl Momo, from a family of spirit mediums, and Okarun, an occult enthusiast. As they venture ahead to disprove each other’s beliefs, they stumble upon spiritual and paranormal energies, gifting them with power they never imagined.

Momo and Okarun, high school classmates with contradicting beliefs about the existence of ghosts and aliens, find themselves embroiled in an exciting journey filled with paranormal activities. In the midst of chaos, both awaken hidden powers and, surprisingly, feelings for each other too! Will they be able to overcome these mystical forces? A story of adolescence wrapped in a paranormal battle, based on the popular manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, DAN DA DAN promises a captivating mix of sci-fi horror and humorous teen romance.
