Oh, hey there Spielberg Jr.! It’s open season for animation films in Slovakia’s Fest Anča International Animation Festival. Do you fancy being the next Walt Disney or, are your ambitions more along the lines of challenging Pixar? Either way, you have until January 31, 2025 to put on your creative cap, summon your inner Moana and submit your magnum opus. Just remember the key ingredients: it has to be short, sweet, and animated. But, let’s be honest, maybe keep the furious opera car chase for your canine audience at home – we’re not sure the Academy is quite ready for that level of avant-garde. Here’s to hoping a few LOLs and OMGs make it to the finals! Oh, and don’t forget to look out for the competition; I hear Buzz Lightyear is going freelance.
Join the Fest Anča International Animation Festival – Slovakia’s only Academy Awards® Qualifying Festival – accepting entries for the 2025 show. We welcome animated films, student creations, music videos, and short films both local and children-oriented to compete.
Submit your work by January 31, 2025. Eligibility includes short animated films and music videos completed after January 1, 2023, presented with English subtitles.
Submit your work via FilmFreeway free of charge until November 30, 2024. For submissions between December 1st to December 31st, 2024, a registration fee of 5 EUR per film will be applied. Late submissions between January 1 to January 31, 2025, will require a 10 EUR fee per film.
Prizes at Fest Anča 2025 are as follows:

- Best Animated Music Video (€1000)

Mark your calendars for Fest Anča 2025 from June 24-June 29, in Žilina, Slovakia.
As the sole Slovak multimedia festival revolving around animated film, its roots are in the New Synagogue and cultural center Stanica Žilina-Záriečie.
Our aim is to present modern and progressive animated films, while celebrating the best in the genre. Through this event, we hope to align with global festivals by bringing this unique art form to Slovakia.
Other than the international competition of animated short films and music videos, non-competitive screenings, displays, workshops, screenings for children and various other events are also part of the festival.
