At the esteemed Annecy Film Festival, Netflix once again dazzled audiences with previews of its strong upcoming animated movies and shows line-up. Industry trailblazers such as Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Alex Woo, Genndy Tartakovsky and others offered invaluable insights and exclusive peeks into what Netflix has in store for animation enthusiasts. The highlights were: Eric Robles, the showrunner, gave a behind-the-scenes look at the much-anticipated Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 animated series. He extended a chilling invite back to the wintry Hawkins of 1985, promising new monsters and a spooky, paranormal mystery for our beloved original characters to unearth. IN YOUR DREAMS – An adventurous, comedic journey of a brother-sister duo, Stevie and Elliot, navigating the bizarre terrain of their dreams, presented by Netflix © 2025 Emmy® Award-winner and first-time feature director, Alex Woo along with his team, left viewers spellbound with exclusive vibe from their upcoming flick In Your Dreams. The globally premiering teaser had also debuted at the festival. The Twits features the misadventures of Mrs. Twit and Mr. Twit, brought alive by Margo Martindale and Johnny Vegas respectively. Cr. A studio focus session titled “Netflix Series Animation: Get Ready for What’s Next!” led by John Derderian showcased upcoming shows from international storytellers and studios, featuring snippets from upcoming series such as Dr. Seuss’s Horton!, Blue Eye Samurai Season 2, Magic: The Gathering, Ghostbusters, Minecraft, Mating Season, and Haunted Hotel. Derderian also announced that the highly acclaimed French animated series, Samuel from Folivari International, would be available on Netflix in specific regions. Additionally, audience favorites such as Astérix & Obélix: Le Combat des Chef and Devil May Cry made a strong showing at Annecy’s Official TV Films Competition, while Mononoke The Movie: Chapter II – The Ashes of Rage was showcased during the festival’s non-competitive Midnight Specials programming. Also presented were Work-in-Progress session for Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy game franchise’s animated adaptation Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, a Making of session for French series 7 Bears, and a demo session for last year’s holiday hit, That Christmas. Exhibitions of French titles Arcane and Samuel invited visitors to explore a wealth of visual delights. Over the past six years, Netflix has impressively stacked up 11 Oscar nominations, two Oscar wins, seven BAFTA nominations, and seven Annies for fan-favorite Arcane, since debuting its first animated feature.
