The Bears Have Arrived: A Hot Take
Well, you gotta hand it to Bear With Me Distribution – they certainly know how to make an entrance! Launching at the Annecy Festival is no small feat; that’s like, showing up to your first school day in a limousine. They score extra brownie points for focusing on children’s animations which melts our hearts because – who doesn’t love cartoons, right?
The titles “Hello Summer” and “The Girl with … (maybe a self-heating hairbrush?)” sound promising, and we are eager for them to fill our screen and the popcorn bowls. All eyes on the Bear With Me Distribution; may they bring the honey of fun and creativity into the animation hive!
Get ready for the official launch of Bear With Me Distribution at the Annecy Festival. As an exclusive distributor of animated flicks for kids, they’ll premiere their headlining film, Hello Summer, in the Young Audience section. Another new catalogue addition, The Girl with the Occupied Eyes will be showcased in a Tribute to Contemporary Portuguese Animation – a New Generation homage.
Hello Summer – A Film by MAUR
Martin Vandas from Czech Republic and Juraj Krasnohorsky from Slovakia, renowned producers of animated films, join forces with Lucia Dubravay Trautenberger, ex-director of the BAB Children’s Festival, to bring to life Bear With Me Distribution (BWMD). Our focus? Sales and festival distribution of children’s animated short films.
We aspire to fully support creators of artistic short films designed for young audiences by creating sound festival strategies and media industry marketing, including international market, television networks, VOD platforms and theatrical distibutors in chosen countries.
Lucia Dubravay Trautenberger, Director of Sales & Acquisitions
Theaters are seeing a positive box office impact from presenting well-curated short films for youngsters. Looking to emulate the success of distributors Cinema Public Films and Gebeka in France, BWMD aims to refine regional distribution into CEE region, thereby completing a cycle of festival distribution, international sales, and theatrical distribution for the BWMD selection.
Producers Martin Vandas and Juraj Krasnohorsky lend their expertise in animation to advise on film selections and festival strategies. Vandas is recognized for his contributions to films like Oscar-nominated short Daughter, The Crossing and just-released Hello Summer. Krasnohorsky’s contributions include EFA-and Annies-nominated White Plastic Sky, recently released in France as Sky Dome 2023. They have jointly worked on films such as Superbia and I Died in Irpin, with new children’s stop-motion film Of Unwanted Things and People currently in post-production.
We noticed an open market for short animation work designed for younger audiences. While some companies are successfully creating festival shorts for adults, we want to be known as the go-to premium sales agent for children’s films.
