Counsel of the Canine’s Cry: ‘Save Me’

In the vast domain of 3D animation, Blinkink’s director Jack Brown has once again proved his mettle! Significantly enough, this animated campaign ‘Save Me’ for animal rights charity RSPCA, co-created with Arthur London, has managed to tug at the heartstrings in a getable 30 seconds. Channeling true-to-life story of the rescued pup ‘Hank’, the scene unfolds in an abandoned room, showcasing Hank in chains and echoing the need to save animals.

Brown’s Balm to Beleaguered Beasts

In my “hot take” this animation serves as a wake-up call alongside offering a bucket of melancholic popcorn that will make any hard-hearted person weep. After all, who can ignore Hank’s “Puss in Boots” level of heartbreaking appeal? Going beyond its immediate aim, this small film is a giant leap in 3D animation domain, subtly nudging viewers towards the cause for animal rights. Jack Brown’s ‘Save Me’ brings to the table not just an impressive animation, but a resonant message that each “Hank” deserves a happy home. Bravo, Jack, you are truly an ‘Animaestro’!

Blinkink‘s Jack Brown transforms a true tale of animal abuse into a moving animation under the title, Save Me, for RSPCA. A tale of a forsaken dog named Hank, the 30-second film, fashioned along with Arthur London, uncovers the terrible neglect and eventual rescue of Hank. From hopeless chains to hope-filled freedom, the transformation embodies RSPCA’s relentless animal welfare efforts.

The project borrows inspiration from quintessential Disney classics to encourage donations, with each frame hand-drawn by Jack and his 12-member team. As per 2023 Wilberforce data, an animal abuse incident is reported to RSPCA every five minutes. Such instances are unnervingly common, and it’s only through the unyielding dedication of volunteers that animals like Hank get a second shot at life.

Creating RSPCA’s inaugural fully animated video was an exhilarating experience. Depicting Hank’s hardship was difficult, but I hope it incites empathy and encourages people to contribute to this fantastic cause.

I aimed to fashion a traditionally animated experience to take audiences on an emotional journey. It’s always tough to elicit emotions in a mere 30 seconds, but I am hopeful that Hank’s palpable sadness will compel people to act.

Amid a world transitioning towards AI-generated animations, it feels great to create something organic, hand-crafted, and backed by a team of incredibly talented human beings. Let’s keep it authentic!
