This delightful partnership has given birth to a series of short animation films, and let’s not forget, all under the sweet, bird-chirping banner “We Campaign Because They Can’t.” How tweet, I mean, sweet, is that?

It seems like they are aiming to make the youngsters chirp their way towards bird protection. A technique so innovative, it might as well have us adults squawking about it too. Just remember, if you spot a group of kids reenacting “Angry Birds” in public, don’t be surprised – they’re probably just warming up to being heroes for our feathered friends! So, why not take a peep? After all, it’s a cause worth tweeting about… and not just on Twitter!

Their shared mission? To engage with young audiences through the powerful campaign: “We Campaign Because They Can’t.”

Experience the unique blend of animation expertise and socially responsible campaigning as two visionary B Corp organisations unite for an impactful cause.

Damian Hook, the influential head of Shortform & Advertising at Blue Zoo, sheds light on the rewards of this collaboration:

Working alongside GOOD Agency on this project was a phenomenal experience. It’s not everyday you encounter a team with visions and values closely aligned to yours, particularly in pursuit of social good. The collaboration was seamless, resulting in short films that we are extremely proud to produce.

The campaign augments RSPB’s enduring objective of being a leading advocate for nature and wildlife. The message is loud, clear, and humourously portrayed: ‘We Campaign Because They Can’t’. The call to action urges viewers to oppose the crisis endured by the UK’s wildlife and to join hands with the RSPB in their campaign to protect it.

The campaign strikes a balance between seriousness and humour, using comedy as a tool to stand out in advertising which has been declining over the past decade.

Bryn Attewell, the creative mastermind behind GOOD Agency, shares his thoughts:

When we first proposed the concept ‘We Campaign Because They Can’t’, we saw a promising opportunity to use humor to highlight a serious issue. The focus on the need for human intervention in protecting wildlife is a powerful message and the suitability for animation was why we felt Blue Zoo was the perfect collaborator.

The films showcase a novel look, inspired by the works of renowned filmmaker Wes Anderson. This artistic influence extends to the cinematography as well. The creation process saw the integration of new techniques challenging the current studio’s pipeline and further incorporation of Blender into their workflow. These films are a testimony to the creative team’s ability to seamlessly blend humor with urgency.

Our main aim was to forge an emotional bond with the viewers, evoking a mix of laughter, reflection, and action. The captivating characters that we’ve introduced carry the heaviness of their message but with a hopeful twist, inspiring the audiences to support RSPB’s mission.

-Dane Winn (Director)

Over 80% of young people between 16 and 24 years agree that nature positively impacts their mental health. However, not everyone has equal access to nature, with young people being especially disadvantaged. Discussing topics surrounding nature and the climate crisis can be overwhelming, thus the need for innovative storytelling. We want to ensure every young person gets a chance to participate in such crucial campaign activities.

Through the combination of organic content and targeted campaigns like this one, we aim to attract the youth’s attention.

-Alice Hardiman (Director of Campaigning & Mobilisation, RSPB)

The campaign commenced on 11th July and will be featured on Facebook and TikTok as well as the RSPB website.
