Witty Hot Take:

I say, what a galore of dazzling animation fury lined up at the CEE Animation Forum this 2025! Boasting an impressive showreel of 29 animated projects parading from every wild corner of Europe, this event is looking like Picasso met Technicolor in the 21st century. Get ready folks, we’re about to embark on a funhouse ride, filled with more twists, turns, and animation thrills than a rollercoaster at Disneyland, all against the charming backdrop of Pilsen (a place where beer was apparently born, so already the event promises bubbling energy!). As for Skwigly Animation Magazine, you’ve pitched the perfect curveball – the animation industry just got its wake-up call. Now, where did I put my 3D glasses?

Unveiling The CEE Animation Forum Official Lineup! The premier platform for pitching, networking and co-production in Central and Eastern Europe, releases the official selection for its upcoming 13th edition, scheduled for November 4 – 6, 2025 in Pilsen, Czechia.

We’ll be featuring a diverse mix of 29 animated projects from 16 different nations across 4 different categories: 9 short films, 8 student films, 6 series and 6 feature-length films. These selections were taken from a whopping 199 applications, representing a 62% increase compared to 2024 and more than double since 2023.

Watching returning creators present new projects at our forum, and knowing their previous successes stemmed from connections made here, is extremely rewarding. We’re proud to be the jumping-off point for numerous European animation projects,

Marta Jallageas, Managing Director of the CEE Animation Forum

Our lineup boasts a mix of Central and Eastern European countries and key markets from Western Europe. The majority, around 70%, of the projects originate from CEE countries, with Czechia (5), Hungary (4) and Poland (4) leading the pack. In terms of target audience, we cater to all: with 12 projects for children, 6 for teens and young adults, and 11 crafted for adults.

As for technique, hand-drawn animation is the favorite, featuring in 14 projects, often alongside 2D or stop-motion animation, the runners-up in popularity. We also have several innovative uses of 3D animation showcased in 6 projects. It’s a proud moment for us to affirm our commitment to gender equality, as we present a balanced lineup of female and male directors and producers.

The CEE Animation Forum’s main highlights include a Pitching Competition, the Market and exclusive One-to-One meetings. Fabulous awards worth over €50,000 in cash and in-kind rewards, including slots in top European training programmes, markets and services, will be given to the competing projects.

Registrations for CEE Animation Forum are set to open in September 2025.
