Announcing the Official Selection for the 23rd Countryside Animafest Cyprus: World Views Edition

The International Competition spotlights 33 uniquely inspiring films from 14 diverse countries.

Festival director Yiorgos Tsangaris and contemporary art curator Gerben Schermer have carefully selected a diverse mix of films by both emerging talents and established masters. Two Grand Prix will be awarded this year for Best Narrative and Best Non-Narrative short films respectively.

This year’s National Program features an extensive selection of sidebar events from young, upcoming artists in Animation, Music and Visual Arts. The Cyprus program was painstakingly curated by Popi Pissouriou, Denis Constantinou and Eleni Chandriotou, and includes 4 films in the National competition and 9 films in the Cyprus Panorama.

A total of 14 films from 7 countries have been chosen for the Children and Young Audience Competition Programme by the Artistic Director Yiorgos Tsangaris and the children’s programme pre-selection team.

Meet the Jury

The jury comprises of contemporary artist Marko Tadić (Croatia), film and festival producer Nadezhda Svirskaia (Russia), and renowned Cypriot poet Avgi Lilli who will be selecting the winners for the various categories. The best film in Children and Young Audience competition will be decided by the festival’s young Jury.
