Unveiling the 113th episode of Skwigly Animation Podcast!

We’re delighted to have director Robert Morgan return to the podcast, in anticipation of the launch of his animated horror feature Stopmotion on Shudder.

Meet Ella Blake, a stop-motion animator wrestling with personal demons after her domineering mother’s death. Immersed in crafting a chilling new puppet film, Ella’s sanity is tested to its limits. When her animated characters spring to life, her fragile mental state unravels, and her unleashed imagination grows increasingly destructive.

In Stopmotion, Aisling Franciosi stars as the tormented Ella Blake. The film bagged the Best Director Award at Fantastic Fest and the Special Jury Award at Sitges and showcases Robert Morgan’s unnerving puppet design and eerie stop-motion animation blended seamlessly with live-action.

Morgan’s prolific body of work includes disturbingly delightful horror shorts like The Man in the Lower Left Hand Corner of the Photograph, The Separation, Invocation, as well as contributions to the online sensation Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared and the feature films The ABCs of Death 2, To Dust, and tribute films Belial’s Dream, Tomorrow I Will Be Dirt, hailing from Arrow’s BD releases of cult horror classics Basket Case and Schramm.

Also in the spotlight: Festival updates from Anima Brussels, Animation Dingle and Cardiff Animation Festival, highlights from the flourishing Irish animation industry, marking 25 years of Cartoon Saloon, an anticipation of BFI’s upcoming Stop-Motion season, sneak peeks into the Ren & Stimpy revamp, and the unforeseen fate of Coyote Vs. Acme.
