Streaming Ink Media and renowned independent animator Jim Lujan are thrilled to unveil the premier of their eagerly awaited, innovative feature film The Full Fungus available solely on Animation+ on March 21, 2025, at 10pm EST / 7pm PST. This heralds a game-changing moment for Animation+, as The Full Fungus becomes the first-ever original, independently animated feature film to debut on the platform.
The Full Fungus is a full-length animated crime comedy, masterfully directed and crafted by cult underground artist Jim Lujan. Lujan utilizes and celebrates the classic LA noir genre to narrate the tale of private detective Chino Diamond on a mission to unearth a lost piece of music by the deceased jazz icon Mink Fungus. The movie features an abundance of thrilling twists and period music, perfectly placed against a comedic noir backdrop of Los Angeles.
Lujan, famous for his unique animation style, is a seasoned player of independent animation. He co-created the hit feature film Revengeance with animation stalwart Bill Plympton and has lent his skills to Adult Swim, Spike and Mike’s Sick and Twisted, and several film festivals. Lujan also had a leading role as character designer on Fox’s TV series, Bless the Harts.
The movie also boasts vocal performances from a host of Lujan’s frequent collaborators, notably established character actor Charley Rossman (Superbad) voicing Diamond, and punk-hop legend Deacon Burns (Kounterclockwise) as Fungus.
“I’ve devoted the past fifteen months to crafting The Full Fungus,” expressed Lujan, “and I’m eager to introduce the film to as many viewers as possible through its exclusive launch on Animation+.”
Animation+ is a burgeoning streaming service and studio, dedicated to delivering intrepid, uncensored adult animation and comedy curated for the millennial and Gen Z demographics. The channel is currently featured free of cost on The Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus, and Plex, with plans to expand to other platforms offering the FAST (free ad-supported television) channel in the subsequent months.
