In a move that makes the Avengers look like a primary school group project, the Aichi Nagoya International Animation Film Festival (ANIAFF) has joined forces with ASIFA-Hollywood and Women in Animation (WIA).

With ASIFA-Hollywood, the very godparents of the Annie Awards™ striding in, and WIA, the champions of women in the animation industry, as part of this animation getaway, we are all set to experience a spectacle that will put any 3D animation to shame. From December 12 to 17, 2025, the quiet city of Nagoya in Japan won’t just be bustling with people, it’ll be buzzing with animation’s best and brightest.

As they say, teamwork makes the dream work, or in this case, the ‘animation’ work! Get ready for some serious action that’ll make the Minions sequel look like cave paintings. And rest assured, whatever unfolds during this artistic extravaganza, it’s going to be anything but two-dimensional.

Celebrated International Groups ASIFA-Hollywood and Women in Animation to Collaborate in the Debut of Aichi Nagoya International Animation Film Festival (ANIAFF). The festival takes place from December 12 to 17, 2025, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

ASIFA-Hollywood, the premier chapter of the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA) and organizer of the Annie Awards™, will be represented by its Executive Director, Aubry Mintz, who is appointed as a Juror of the ANIAFF Feature Film Competition.

The objectives of ANIAFF and ASIFA-Hollywood are in-line as both aim to promote the global culture and industry of animation. I am excited to see this global partnership thrive.

Joining the jury panel is Pénélope Bagieu, a renowned comic book artist and author known for works like Brazen, as well as Shuzo John Shiota, the award-winning President and CEO of Polygon Pictures.

Women in Animation (WIA), a forerunner in championing gender equality in animation, VFX and gaming, will join forces with ANIAFF for a special segment, “Women in Animation in Japan”. This highlight aims to shed light on the significant contributions of women in animation and encourage inclusive dialogue in the industry.
