Bumpybox, a Cardiff-based animation studio, introduces Egin Bach (Tiny Buds in English), backed by the Welsh Government via Creative Wales as well as S4C’s Commercial Content Fund.
Egin Bach (Bumpybox)
Egin Bach unfolds over 26 five-minute episodes, spotlighting the grand adventures of six tiny explorers navigating the immensity of a backyard.
Every episode sheds light on the different aspects of nature – from local flora and fauna to weather elements like rain and sunshine, aiming to instill appreciation for the beauty and significance of nearby nature in children.
With prospects for international distribution, the series anticipates bolstering the long-term endurance and universal reach of the company.
Excited about this new creation, Sioned Geraint, S4C’s Content Commissioner for Children and Learners notes:
At S4C, it’s our mission to foster curiosity and creativity among our youngest audience, and Egin Bach does just that. We are proud to back a homegrown production like this that mingles stunning animation with informative storytelling.
Egin Bach is a testament to how Welsh-language content can invigorate imagination and forge connections both locally and globally.
Producer and Director at Bumpybox, Sam Wright, adds:
We are enthralled to see Egin Bach premiere on S4C, aspiring to motivate a fresh generation of Welsh children to delve into the beauty of nature.
Our sincere gratitude extends to Sioned and the S4C team for their invaluable help in materializing the series. Collaborating with S4C, being the central hub of Welsh storytelling, has always been our aim.
Thanks also to ITV who will air the English version, Tiny Buds, post its S4C premiere, as well as Creative Wales and S4C International for their invaluable support.
Egin Bach holds special significance for us as it brings to life the idea that united our team about a decade and a half ago.
Claire Urquhart, Head of S4C’s Commercial Content Fund, remarks:
We are delighted to aid Egin Bach in its inception. This investment will enable Bumpybox to distribute this optimistic, locally produced animation to global platforms and audiences.
Joedi Langley, interim Head of Creative Wales, shares:
Bumpybox has been conceiving fantastic work recently, from contributing to the critically acclaimed film Kensuke’s Kingdom to creating a 3D pet dinosaur for CBeebies’ My Petsaurus, and more.
It’s wonderful that with the support of Creative Wales, the team has been able to nurture this concept and secure the resources to create this enthralling bilingual animated series for children. Wishing them every success in their forthcoming endeavors.
Egin Bach will premiere on S4C on October 21st and can be streamed subsequently on S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer.
