Turning the world green with envy over their artistic prowess in the animation sector, they’ve received a record 328 entries for the 2025 Irish Animation Awards!

So, grab your four-leaf clover and get ready to celebrate, because this isn’t just any animation awards. This is Ireland’s genius collaboration of creativity and technology under one digital thatched roof. With epic entries that could make even a leprechaun’s jaw drop, these nominations have us saying, “top o’ the mornin’ to ya, animation”, like never before!

Join us as we shine a spotlight on the exceptional talent in Ireland’s animation industry at the eagerly-awaited 2025 Irish Animation Awards, taking place in the vibrant city of Galway on Saturday, May 24th. Animation Ireland, the country’s leading trade organization for animation studios, announced the nominees today.

Over 328 entries were reviewed and evaluated by a diverse Irish and international jury. Now, 35 exceptional Irish projects across 23 categories have made it to the final cut and are competing for these coveted awards at the May ceremony, which has the support of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland. Winners will receive specially crafted awards by movie maker, animator, and illustrator Eimhin McNamara. The award statue features a Phenakistoscope, a device used to create an illusion of motion that was integral to early animation techniques.

The Irish Animation Awards are a true testament to the incredible talent that our industry holds. This event gives us a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate our triumphs and the special people behind the work. The nominations feature a wide spread of studios across Dublin, Kilkenny, Belfast, Galway, Roscommon, Louth, and Cork, in addition to several Irish and international independent creatives. Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon leads the Irish Animation Awards 2025 field with 12 nods, followed closely by Brown Bag Films in Dublin with 10 nominations and Sixteen South in Belfast, which scored 9 nominations.

The Best Feature Film or Special category is an intense battleground with Pinkalicious & Peterrific Special by Sixteen South in Belfast; The Magic Reindeer Saving Santa’s Sleigh by Moetion Films in Galway; Lu and the Bally Bunch from Brown Bag Films in Dublin; Hungry Bear Tales: To the Pole! by Treehouse Republic in Dublin, and Puffin Rock and the New Friends by Cartoon Saloon in Kilkenny all vying for the top prize.

Our brand new Award for Best Voice Acting category sees an array of emerging Irish voice-over artists nominated, along with noteworthy international contenders.
