Tale as Old as Time…Literally!

Superpro Animation and France Télévisions Jump into the Dino Era with ‘FRNCK’

The world of animation brings us many gifts, but this one might have us checking for dinosaur tracks! Our favorite French animation wizards, Superprod Animation, have teamed up with France Télévisions to unleash prehistoric mayhem onto our screens. The chaos ensues as we follow the leading lad, Franck – an orphan with notably bad luck (or time-traveling tween genius, depending on how you view things) who has ended up in the era of T-Rexes and trilobites. Certainly makes missing the school bus look tame, doesn’t it?

Brace Yourself for Dino-mite Fun With ‘FRNCK’

But it’s not all danger and doom (though there are those too, dinosaurs are no kittens, folks). Franck’s rescue by the brave and capable Kenza promises thrills and heartwarming friendship in the heart of the Cenozoic era.

My hot take? Pack your survival kits and prepare yourself for a wild, prehistoric ride because “FRNCK” is coming soon to an animated screen near you. Yes, it means swapping modern problems for massive dinosaurs. But hey, isn’t that the kind of trade-off we all secretly long for in the deepest, “Jurassic Park” corners of our hearts?

SUPERPROD Animation Collaborates with France Télévisions on FRNCK

SUPERPROD Animation Excitedly Strikes a Production Accord with France Télévisions for the Animated Adaptation of Popular Comic Book FRNCK.

The tale centers Franck, a 13-year-old orphan, who abruptly finds himself in the prehistoric age, amidst predatory dinosaurs, giant insects, and menacing plants. Lucky for him, Kenza, a 14-year-old prehistoric lass rescues him and brings him back to her tribe. Initially terrified, Franck is taken aback by the warm reception he gets. Could this be his golden opportunity to belong to a family after a lonely upbringing? Resolute to remain, Franck makes every effort to fit in, meeting the perils of this savage prehistoric world head-on and grappling with the complexities of being part of a family.

FRNCK draws its roots from the comic series conceived by artist Brice Cossu and writer Olivier Bocquet. First published in Spirou magazine for kids in 2016, it emerged later as graphic novels by Dupuis. Translations in nine languages and ten volumes (with more in the pipeline) have seen it sell over 600,000 copies, captivating its audience with its unique blend of comedy, fantasy, and adventure.

Julie Durot, the Managing Director at Dupuis, opines:  “It’s fantastic to watch FRNCK transition into animation. The project with SUPERPROD and France Télévisions aims to retain the comic’s wit and adventurous spirit while illustrating compelling themes and provoking reflections on modernity and humankind.”

Jean-Baptiste Lamotte, the Custodian of Youth Programming at France Télévisions, contributed: “We’re super excited to infuse life into FRNCK with the skilled teams at SUPERPROD. This series, a blend of adventure, humor, and sentiment, seeks to expand our animated lineup with more excitement and profound contemplation on family ties and social paradigms. Through the odyssey of this orphan whisked into a fantastically primitive prehistoric era, where he discovers and redefines family, the show will foster a strong emotional bond with its two main characters and their chosen family.”

Camille Serceau, the Producer at SUPERPROD Animation, shared:
“We were instantly magnetized by the comic’s vigor, wit, and novelty. FRNCK is genuinely distinctive, and we feel that the pilot we created showcases the robustness of the concept and our 3D adaptation. Like the pilot, Jean Duval will helm the entire series, and we are eager to breathe life into this realm and escort children on an unparalleled prehistoric quest.”
