* The Welsh-language channel, S4C, has managed to acquire a broadcast license for the animated series from none other than the Peyo Company.
* And who will be providing the heavenly Welsh voices for the blue folks? That’s going to be Cwmni Da, a production company all set to give life to our little blue buddies.

The Smurfs: Worldwide Beloved Children’s Show Makes A Comeback on S4C In Welsh After 40 Years!

S4C – Welsh language channel acquires the right to air Peyo’s iconic animated series, The Smurfs. The show will be aired in Welsh by Cwmni Da from 2025.

Debuting in comics in 1958, Peyo’s Smurfs have won hearts globally. The Smurfs’ recent animated series (2021) is shown globally on Nickelodeon, free-to-air channels, and Netflix. A Smurfs movie featuring Rihanna’s voice for Smurfette, produced by Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon Animation, is set for a July 2025 worldwide release.

S4C’s Content Commissioner, Sioned Geraint, celebrates the return of The Smurfs on S4C after 40 years as she anticipates reintroducing these iconic characters to viewers in 2025.

She considers it an honor to join forces with Peyo Company for this initiative, and acknowledges the support of Pierre Culliford (Peyo)’s family in realizing S4C’s vision in facilitating a new home for The Smurfs.

Véronique Culliford, Peyo Company’s President and Peyo’s daughter, is ecstatic about the imminent launch on S4C. The show’s debut in Welsh marks the 50th language release for the TV series. Both parents and children are sure to be thrilled as The Smurfs are set to return on S4C.
