In a bid to stay relevant with current trends, Anima 2024 is focusing on the theme of science fiction in animation, showcasing a broad selection of new full-length and short films. Fans will also be treated to screenings of iconic sci-fi films. A major retrospective of the genre’s classics will be hosted at Cinematek.

EXPANDING INTO A NEW VENUE: THE MARNI

While Flagey liner has been a historical venue since 2007, the festival has, in response to audience expectations and a broadened schedule, decided to incorporate the nearby Théâtre Marni. This addition will provide approximately thirty more screenings.

Additionally, Anima holds the unique distinction of being the sole Belgian animation festival that qualifies for the Oscars. The eagerly awaited results of the film selections will be announced on December 1.

Anima is set to run from February 23 to March 3, 2024, at the venues of Flagey, Marni, Cinematek and will also span over a dozen towns across Wallonia and Flanders. A selected range of films will also be made available online on Sooner.
