Hot Take:
“Hold onto your space helmets, folks! We’re about to embark on a whimsical journey where animation meets the final frontier… space! ANIMASYROS 2025 pledges to take us on a 3D animated trek through cosmos, addressing questions that usually lead us down late-night rabbit holes of existential crises – like: ‘Are we alone in the universe? And if we are, who gets dibs on the remote?’ The maestro behind this space-time odessey is none other than Alexandra Manousakis. Let’s strap in, let our imaginations hit warp speed, and set course for an animated journey of interstellar proportions! Who knew astronomy could be so much fun when it’s given a 3D animation upgrade? Sure beats looking at space dust through a telescope!”
Dive into the 18th ANIMASYROS! This year’s theme, Animated Cosmos, delves into the infinite unknowns of space. Experience how animation brings to life the secrets and complexities of the cosmos! “From the dawn of humanity, we’ve questioned the universe. Pondered the existence of extraterrestial lifeforms. Contemplated time and space. Questioned the multitude of universes. Does the universe ever end?
What if alien beings throughout the cosmos ask the same eternal questions? What if they share our existential curiosity?
It often reminds me of Men in Black’s ending, when it is revealed that our universe is merely a marble in an alien’s game. The perspective infinitely zooms out to hint at the unending universe.
The illustration I’ve created for ANIMASYROS explores this concept — aliens wondering about their existence and the universe, similar to us. The answers elude both us and them. Or do they? Maybe, this is simply the way it has to be.”
