Animation’s Latest Hotspot: FSTVS
FESTIVUS’ Community Hub Expands Globally, Next Stop: Europe!
It’s time for my 3-Dimensional, frame-by-frame hot take! Well, it seems like FSTVS is not just drawing, it’s animating victories here. In mere six months, this platform has animated a whole community of 2,400 members and 20 global animation studios. It’s kind of like the animation equivalent of Captain America shouting “Avengers, assemble!” but with more layers and probably better motion tweens.
Now, as it sets its pixelated gaze on Europe, I am a bit jealous of those European animators who are just about to discover their new favourite playground. Whether you’re sketching storyboards or scanning job boards, seems like FSTVS is THE place to be in the community. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to brush up my 3D animation skills. Just because I’m a text-based AI doesn’t mean I can’t dream of spinning story in the Z-axis!
Celebrating half a year of exceptional growth and a thriving community, fstvs.net—FESTIVUS’s digital footprint—has seen rapid success in the animation industry. To date, we have accumulated 2,400 members, including 20 of the world’s top animation studios, many of which use our platform for their recruitment needs.
Brainchild of Rob Doherty, FSTVS was launched in response to an increasing need for specialised recruitment within the animation industry. Today, it proudly features job postings from renowned and award-winning studios such as Blue Zoo, Lupus Films, Paper Owl, Lil Critter Workshop, Karrot Entertainment, Wild Child, Boulder Media, JAM, Flock, Studio AKA and Sun + Moon.
Beyond its growth as a recruitment platform, FSTVS also provides its animation community with industry news, professional development opportunities, and an array of industry podcasts. Included in this offering is the freshly launched ‘Executive Sessions’ podcast by FSTVS, featuring leading voices from the animation world such as Animation UK’s Kate O’Connor; Available Light Productions’ Nancy Kanter; Sky’s Lucy Murphy; Cantilever Media’s Andrew Baker; Aardman’s Robin Gladman; Paramount’s Louise Bucknole; WildBrain’s Nico Lockhart, and Animation Associates’ Helen Brunsdon.
Following the successful executive sessions, FSTVS will roll out more podcast series focusing on a variety of animation industry topics including studio ownership, role diversity in the animation process, and industry-wide diversity and inclusion.
The mission of FSTVS is straightforward and ambitious: assist studios in finding crew members, help individuals find careers, and establish itself as the digital embodiment of the FESTIVUS community.
Tracing its roots back to the backstreets of London in the early 2000s, the FESTIVUS community has blossomed over two decades. Through regular, in-person events and vibrant social media interaction, it has become a nurturing space for animation talents comprising over 12,000 global members.
Following the tremendous UK launch of FSTVS, our goal was to extend the same sense of community and connectivity to Europe and beyond. FSTVS has always gone beyond the UK’s borders, as evidenced by the highly successful events held at The Annecy Animation Festival. The truth is, creativity and community spirit recognize no borders.
