Now, in my hot take, this news carries the fragrance of fishy fun. BBC and RAI are clearly playing with their food here… and by food, I mean viewer demographic. It’s as if they threw a darts match and ‘5-8-year-old children who love chuckling at penguins’ was the bullseye. Might seem oddly specific, but hey, who doesn’t enjoy some penguin slapstick? Move over Madagascar, Piripenguins are waddling into our homes with their belly sliding antics. This has a chance to ice over the competition, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see if it becomes the new cool thing in children’s animation. Remember penguin pals, keep calm, and waddle on!
Announcing a fresh new 2D/CG-animated comedy series, Piripenguins, a co-production of BBC and RAI, proudly brought to you by London’s own Eaglet Films.
Piripenguins is a captivating children’s animation series, creatively portraying the lively adventures of penguins on a far-off iceberg. This comedic show, perfect for 5-8 year-olds, features five distinct penguins, each with uniquely amusing personalities.
Produced by Eaglet Films in collaboration with RAI, Red Monk Studio, and Wild Child Animation in Scotland, Piripenguins is another venture by the creators of the CBBC’s Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures.
Series creator and director at Eaglet films, Massimo Fenati, shares:
We are thrilled to announce the launch of Piripenguins, an original concept developed at Eaglet Films. Amidst the dominant industry trends favoring established global IP, the opportunities for new creative ventures have been limited. We are incredibly proud to create something fresh and appreciate BBC and RAI’s support for innovative ideas and voices.
Luca Milano, RAI Kids adds:
Piripenguins is a celebration of fun and imagination. This series is not only for kids who are eager to explore the world but also offers content to engage their families. We are excited to be part of this project, partnering with the BBC and talented teams at Eaglet Films and Red Monk.
Eaglet Films is dedicated to creating engaging kids’ animations. Founded by Massimo Fenati two years ago amidst a dip in live-action content during the pandemic, the studio now runs under the expert supervision of executive producer, Tess Cuming.
Earlier, Eaglet was successful in catching the attention of UK viewers with Christmas specials such as Quentin Blake’s Clown and Terry Pratchett’s Abominable Snowbaby, in addition to a special animated series for CBBC titled Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures.
