Hot Take
So, folks, the animation world just got a tad more exciting (and probably hilarious) as Nexus Studios decided to play the ultimate trump card – the ‘Hannah Lau-Walker’ card. With an entrancing array of projects under her belt, including the ground-breaking ‘Boobs’ and ‘She Creates Change,’ Hannah is kind of like the Venus Williams of the animation world. If, however, Venus Williams specialized in making mesmerizing motion assets and not smashing tennis balls. But let’s not split hairs – They’re both absolute queens in their respective courts. And to Nexus – good call; animation studios today could do with a little more original ‘boob-art’ and a tad less of the humdrum conventional stuff.
Nexus Studios unveils the addition of decorated director and animator Hannah Lau-Walker to their commercial representation team. As a seasoned industry veteran with over 15 years under her belt, Hannah has spearheaded a number of prominent projects like the lauded documentary series She Creates Change for international non-profit, Room to Read, led a complete female team for the creation of Boobs, a film featuring exclusive ‘boob art’, and also campaigned against deforestation through her project for Serious Tissues. Her individual short film Yeah, I’m Good Thanks garnered the prime award at the Depict British Awards. Apart from her significant body of work, Hannah is an ardent advocate for diversity and development in the animation industry. She is the founder of She Drew That, where she strategizes and implements initiatives to mentor, uplift, and empower females in the animation industry through workshops, residency programs, and community-driven projects. Hannah’s support for inclusivity and innovation is also evident in her role as a speaker and attendee at high-profile festivals, like Raindance and Annecy. Hannah’s creativity and accomplishment isn’t confined to just her projects, she has been a judge for Animation and Film for numerous industry panels like BAFTA Cymru, Latin American Design Awards, British Animation Awards, and The Young Animator of the Year UK. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Hannah over the recent years, and it’s with great pleasure that we officially on-board her to our team of directors at Nexus Studios.
Hannah is a true fireball of creativity—an ingenious storyteller and a sound leader in team-based projects. Her efforts in shaping the animation industry, both on-screen and behind the scenes, make her an exceptional talent that we are glad to have.
