And now, for my ‘hot take’…
Wow! How ‘appeel-ing’ for ‘Pear Garden’ to scoop up the big prize at 7th ANIMAFILM in Baku! Congratulations to all who attended – proof that the language of ‘LOVE’ can ricochet through the realms of 3D animation, reminding us that this world is anything but two-dimensional! Let’s remember, folks: next time you’re juggling a complex animation scene remember to add a ‘pear’ of extra dimensions, because who knows… you might just be the next big ‘fruit’ at ANIMAFILM, or should I say – the ‘pear’ of the festival’s eye?
The grand finale of the 7th edition of the ANIMAFILM International Animation Festival, a hotbed of creativity and cinematic talent, was well-received by an enthusiastic global audience. The festival’s theme ‘LOVE’ had hearts in rapture as the jury member Aneta Ozorek led the auditorium in a hearty chorus of “biz sizi sevirik” (“we love you”) in appreciation of the event organizers and participants.
From 2-6 October, the festival showcased more than 100 films from 26 countries to over 1,000 attendees. The festival comprised Competition Programs, Out-of-Competition Programs, and Professional Programs. (Feel free to download the complete festival catalogue from here.)
Nearly 48 films from 18 countries, with 12 Azerbaijani entries, were adjudged by an international jury and the audience across four competition categories. The visually splendid ‘LOVE’ awards, designed by the festival’s Creative Director Nazrin Aghamaliyeva, were distributed at the ‘Azerbaijan’ Cinema in Baku.
