Pink Parrot Media lays its hands on ‘Ultraduck’
• Pink Parrot Media, a company stationed in both Montreal and Madrid, has snagged the global rights to the animated graphic novel adaptation, ‘Ultraduck,’ courtesy of Arcana Studio.
• At the forthcoming European Film Market (EFM) scheduled from the 13th to 19th February in Berlin, PPM will not only be presenting ‘Ultraduck’ but also the teen action comedy ‘Graduation Heist’ from Laniakea Pictures.
• ‘Ultraduck’ is still a work in progress.
Quack Attack Takes a Whole New Level
It appears Pink Parrot Media is the winner of a duck hunt, snagging the worldwide rights to Arcana Studio’s ‘Ultraduck.’ Not content with holding their cards close to their vests, they’re also planning to parade their shiny new duck, along with a side order of ‘Graduation Heist,’ at the upcoming European Film Market. Clearly, someone’s been on a shopping spree.
In my lighthearted perspective, it seems Pink Parrot Media spilled the beans about how to have a tantalizing coup before it’s even cooked. Snatching up the rights to the graphic novel adaptation Ultraduck is like hatching a golden egg, flaunting it while it’s still in the incubator. While this seems like thrilling news for animation enthusiasts globally, let’s not count our chickens before they hatch – or in this case, our ducks. One can’t help but wonder if the webbed hero will truly take flight or end up a sitting duck. Well, hold your popcorn tight as ‘Ultraduck’ is still in the nest!
Global media distribution heavyweight Pink Parrot Media (PPM), with branches in Montreal and Madrid, has clinched the worldwide distribution rights to the animated adaptation of the popular graphic novel Ultraduck, developed by Arcana Studio. The forthcoming European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin, scheduled for 13-19 February, will see PPM showcase these newly-acquired rights, as well as the teen action-comedy, Graduation Heist, from Laniakea Pictures.

Slated for delivery in the last quarter of 2025, Ultraduck is a production currently under-way. This unique animation offering is based on a globally popular, award-winning graphic novel penned by Edgar Delgado, a renowned Marvel artist. Translated for readers in around 15 countries, the graphic novel now takes shape on the cinematic canvas. The animated feature is designed to cater to a young audience aged between 10 and 12 years, as well as captivate co-viewers of all ages.
Take a gander at Carlos Bahia’s adventure-filled life; a business duck known for his smooth-talking ways. His life shifts gears from being drama-free to a whirlwind of unexpected events. A botched date proposal to Lisa, the office’s new HR representative, the sudden transformation of his bullied colleague Horace into an alien gauntlet-clad disruptor of office peace, and a cosmic entity’s demand for them to save the world, add a load of surrealism to Carlos’ life. In the ensuing chaos, Carlos assumes the superhero mantle of Ultraduck, simultaneously running afoul with Omegallus, a city-threatening menace, summoned inadvertently by Horace.
In this chaos-marred whirlpool of comic book adventures, Carlos learns humility and Horace discovers that vengeance isn’t the answer to everything. Their unusual alliance helps thwarts a power-crazed CEO, reconciles them with their co-workers, and, with some luck, they manage to save the world without causing much destruction.
Our objective at Pink Parrot Media is to create engaging and thought-provoking tales for families to enjoy globally. We believe that we’re on the right track with our acquisition of two new titles that embody these traits. We’re confident that Ultraduck will deliver a unique superhero experience, one filled with nostalgia and a contemporary take, appealing to kids and adults in equal measure.

Besides Ultraduck, Pink Parrot Media also plans to showcase other projects at EFM, such as the recently completed animation Norbert, fresh off its Spanish premiere via Buena Vista International, and the currently in-production titles, Unstable and The Bottanix. Furthermore, PPM is set to present Black Butterflies, a 2D feature that combines entertainment and advocacy, focusing on the plight of climate refugees. It has received nods from several significant festivals, won multiple awards, and managed to bag the ‘Best Animation Film’ at the recent Goya Awards.
For those attending EFM, look out for Pink Parrot Media at the Canadian Pavilion, Stand #153 at the Martin-Gropius-Bau.
