These plucky international finalists are weeks away from pulling out their hot-diggity-dog projects and convincing the grand panel that they’ve got the best in show. Animarkt really knows how to stir the clay pot, announcing 22 contenders who will be falling over themselves (literally, it’s stop motion after all) to scoop up those coveted awards. The lucky winners will take a significant leap toward achieving their dreams— most notably, securing the necessary support to turn their projects into reality. The competition is fierce at the Animarkt Stop Motion Forum, an exclusive platform for showcasing unproduced stop motion projects before a crowd of renowned experts, global production studios, and prominent producers. This golden opportunity empowers finalists to accumulate valuable connections and accolades that bolster their films, spearheading their international careers. With a staggering 80 submissions from 33 countries like Europe, the US, India, and Chile, 22 finalists have been invited to compete. Of these, 21 have accepted the challenge. At the heart of the Animarkt Stop Motion Forum is a warm community of creatives who are passionate about stop motion artistry. They gather here every year to engage with international experts and seize support critical to the initial stages of their projects. We pride ourselves in partnering with studios, festivals, and organizations who share our passion for developing the stop motion industry and bolstering creatives. This year, our winners will receive accreditation to pivotal industry festivals, as well as distribution and co-production backing Marianna Piskorz, Forum organiser In preparation for their grand pitching presentations, our selected project creators will tap into comprehensive professional guidance. Training sessions will encompass projection techniques, screenplay preparation, and green production. We welcome seasoned animation advisors to our expert panel. Among others, prominent journalist Nancy Denney-Phelps, known for her European animation and festival insights, and popular animation music creator Nick Phelps will aid our finalists in their presentations to the jury. Our team feels privileged to host them at Animarkt every year, where they’ve been invaluable since the Forum’s inception. Paulina Zacharek, president of Momakin, organizer of the Forum Our Pitching section encompasses two categories, with 11 projects selected for each. The first category pertains to short projects under development not exceeding 25 minutes runtime, with completed screenplay drafts being a minimum requirement. The second format homes attention on feature films, TV specials, or TV series at different development phases. Each case necessitates at least 80% of animation to be crafted using stop motion techniques. All Pitching participants were required to present a viable film production plan accounting for 10% of their project’s total score.
