It’s safe to say there’s a lot more than a fur-ball brewing here. ‘Tabby McTat’ seems all set to leave scratch-marks (of pure joy, of course!) on this festive season. From the acclaimed producers, Magic Light Pictures, the animation promises to be high-calibre, and with it being their 11th nod to BBC One, I’m expecting another round of purrfectly placed puns. All this is set to unfold on the historic fur-avenues of London—doing a meow-nificent job of setting the stage for this heart-warming tale about friendship. No doubt it’ll be the cat’s meow among whisker enthusiasts come this Christmas!

Presented by the award-winning Magic Light Pictures, the heartwarming tale of Tabby McTat is set on the vibrant streets of London. It showcases an extraordinary friendship between a street-performing cat and his human companion, Fred.
The film, adapted from the popular book penned by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, features an all-star voice cast including Rob Brydon, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísú, Cariad Lloyd, Joanna Scanlan, Jodie Whittaker and Susan Wokoma.
Directed by Sarah Scrimgeour and Jac Hamman, the film is penned by Max Lang and Suzanne Lang, and produced byBarney Goodland and Michael Rose from Magic Light Pictures.
In addition to the movie, Magic Light Pictures has crafted three unique Christmas Idents just for BBC One 2023.
The animated videos display Tabby McTat and his family celebrating the holiday season under a Christmas tree, Stick Man and his family receiving gifts from Santa, and the Gruffalo’s Child getting into some festive mischief.
Magic Light has prepared special Christmas idents featuring Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s beloved characters, ready to sprinkle some extra festive cheer this holiday season.

The idents will premiere on BBC One following Strictly Come Dancing on December 2nd and will continue to enchant viewers throughout the joyous season.
Animated by Red Star, these idents will be joined by four special idents from 2020, showcasing Zog and The Flying Doctors, The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child.
