The Encounters Film Festival 2025 competition agenda introduces an impressive array of 105 outstanding films from upcoming creators and notable filmmakers worldwide. This extraordinary 30th edition showcases the creame of modern cinema, combining diverse viewpoints, inventive narratives, and significant star presence across various formats and genres.

44 Major Screenings and Celebrated Talent

This year’s agenda includes an astounding 44 debut performances, among them 33 UK debuts, featuring films from China, Kazakhstan, Poland, Norway, and the USA. New films sourced from over 50 countries ensure that spectators will be among the first to experience the upcoming generation of film finesse.

Ovary Acting (Dir. Ida Melum)

UK screenings provide an opportunity to discover spectacular new creations from animation directors like Ida Melum (Ovary-Acting) and Georges Schwizgebel (From One Painting… to Another), and numerous commendable short films including Oscar-nominated efforts from Nina Gantz (Wander to Wonder) to name a few.
